NHD Reflection

Street Racing, Documentary, John, Juliene, Jessica, Veasna

During this years NHD project I learned a lot. I learned how to work on iMovie, become more sociable, and work better in groups. In our project we showed the good, the bad, and the ugly of street racing. We showed the cops opinions, and then racers opinions. The best part of NHD was learning more about my topic then normal people should. That is a really good part about doing NHD.

Some successes for street racing and NHD are learning a lot about street racing. It has successes because you learn about things you want to learn and make projects about them.

Some challenges for NHD was the annotated bibliographies and the process paper. They were a really big challenge but we got through them.

Some changes for next year are the theme, and more time. That would really help us with getting our project done and make it more procise.

Cover from Langston Hughes

The Life of Langston Hughes

John

The Life of Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes was born on February 1st 1902. He was born in Joplin Missouri. Where he was growing up, he went through a lot with all of the racism. People did want to hire his father because he was black. His father wanted to be a lawyer, but wasn’t allowed too because the color of his skin. Langston Hughes’s father didn’t like the racism in the U.S so he packed his bags and moved to Mexico. When he was growing up he wrote poems to let his anger out.
Growing up Langston Hughes was a very upset person. He was upset because all of the racism he went through. He didn’t like the fact that he didn’t have as much power as the whites. He also knew that he couldn’t do anything so he just wrote poems about it. He succeeded in life when his poems started to get real good that people wanted them. When he first realized that he was that good that he started writing more.
Langston Hughes loved being black except for the fact that he didn’t have as much power but he wrote a poem about being black. It was called “My People.” The first poem he published in a book or magazine was called “Negro Speaks of Rivers.” It was published in Crisis magazine. When he was twenty-one years old he joined to S.S West Hesseltine.
There is a lot of things you should know about my author and that is he is one of the most famous African American authors. Another thing that you should know that he died at the age of sixty- five in New York City. We benefit from him today is that he has a lot of stories in schools today. That is how we will benefit from him today. I think that the most impressive thing about him was that he stayed strong through all his troubles.
My author inspired me by the fact that he went through a lot with his dad not getting the job he wanted because he was black, and how much he went through to get a good name as a poet. That is what inspired me. I would like to be him because of all he has done in life.
In conclusion, I think that Langston Hughes was a good person in all ways. He was nice to others and good at what he does. That is why I chose Langston Hughes and that is why he inspired me.

Why I Deserve an A in Mr. Romero's Class.

Why I deserve an A
By: John

Throughout the year I have been really well behaved in Mr. Romero’s class. I have been good and did all my work. I handed in all my work on time and completed. That right there deserves an A right there, but I will tell why I really deserve an A.

In Mr. Romero’s class, he expects a couple things of you. He expects you to do all your work. He doesn’t give a lot of work, so there should be no excuse for your work not to be done. I did all my work in his class. That is one thing why I deserve an A.

Another thing he expects from you is to give respect. To get respect you have to give respect and Mr. Romero respects me. In his class we do a lot of group work and that is fun for our class. That is why I deserve an A.

The other reason why I deserve an A is that I came to class on time everyday. I have been in class everyday on time. To be in class on time helps get an A so you don’t miss anything. That is a real important thing for getting an A in school.

In conclusion, I deserve an A for all of the reasons I stated below. In order to get an A in mr. Romero’s class you have to do all of them things and I did them. I did all my work, was on time for all my classes, and gave and got respect from Mr. Romero. That is why I should get an A in Mr. Romero’s class.

Should Parents Be able to Beat Their Kids

People hit their children all the time. They hit their kids whenever they want because it makes them feel good. They hit them when they are mad at something or someone else. Hitting kids can really hurt them mentally and physically. It can scare them for life. I think that parents should be able to hit their kids for two reasons.
The first reason why I think that parents should be able to beat there kids because beating your kids keep them in check. Keeping them in check is good because when then are going to do something bad, then can think of them getting beat. That tells them not to do it. Your kids do a lot of bad things so when you keep them in check tells them not to do it. That will keep them out of trouble.
The last reason why I think that parent should be able to beat their kids because it teaches them right from wrong. It teaches them right from wrong such as teaching them not to drink or smoke. Another thing it teaches them is parenting. They need to know that just in case of having a kid, it will teach them how to raise it. People say that they don’t want to beat their child so that when they have a kid they don’t beat their kids. They don’t want to be an abusive parent. Another thing to remember that when you are having a kid that there are limitations such as not in the face, not a closed fist, and not with cords or wires.
I think that parents should be able to beat there kids because it teaches there kids lessons and it keeps them in check. If you do it for them reasons then your kid should be good. And remember, if you do beat your kids then don't go past the limitations. I think that they should be able to beat their kids. Do you think they should be able to?

Huckleberry Finn Should Not be taught in CHS

Huck Finn is being read all over the nation. It is also probably the most talked about issue about over being read in schools. I will tell you a couple of reasons why I think that it should not be taught in Constitution High School. This is what I think.
The first reason why I think that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should not be taught in Con High is because of the language. The language in this book is horrible. They use the “N” word way too much. That should not be written in any books for kids to read. Young kids should not be exposed to that kind of language. The grammar in the story is also horrible. You should speak properly. Talk right instead of saying yall and git, that is not the right way to talk.
Another reason why Huck Finn should not be taught in CHS is that there are a lot of bad influences. You do not want students to be subjected to that type of influences. Some of the influences are smoking, drinking, joining gangs. Smoking is bad. Kids should not be taught about smoking. They also drank alcohol. Both drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes should not be exposed to those type of things. Huck Finn joined a gang. They were talking about holding people for hostage and killing people. They should not be reading that kind of stuff.
Growing up kids were being told that lieing is bad. To tell the truth when you have to. Well, in Huck Finn all he does is lie. Huck Finn lies about everything. He lies about pretending to be like people. He pretended to be like Tom Saywer. He also made up stories. He said that was killed. Another thing he lied about about killing people, but they didn’t kill anybody.
In Conclusion, I think that Huckleberry Finn should not be taught in CHS. I think that because of all the bad things said, and done and thought about. You should not taught them kind of things. That is why I don’t think Huck Finn should not be taught in Constitution High School.
